There is good news and there is bad news.

Sad news came to Pursuit Brittanys in late-summer 2017. Phoenix's Li'l Lucy (Lucy), by AF CH FC Shady's Beans Blaze Phoenix out of Bull Creeks Shady Mae, passed at the age of nine. She retired in 2015 falling one 3-point Brittany win shy of her FC. She finished her field career with 13 placements and 7 FC points. On the brighter side she produced 5 litters from multiple sires during her life. There have been a number of her pups that have gone on to earn juvenile and adult placements. She ran big, loved life and we'll always miss her!

On the good news side of the equation we are very happy to report that DC BBB's Flashy Rose JH (Roxie) turned 13 years old In April 2018. Although she has some arthritis and we have dealt with other ailments along the way, Roxie is in pretty darn good health and looks much younger than her 13 years! We hope she will continue to do well moving forward.

FC Pursuit's Flashy Chick (Bonnie), by AF CH NFC NAFC FC AFC Just Call Me Roy out of DC Flashy Rose JH, continues to compete on a limited basis. Bonnie now has 28 placements spanning from Montana through the Midwest and into the Southeast. She represents a 4th generation of OFA Excellent. Bonnie has spent most of the past 3 years making puppies. She is slated to be bred again in the fall 2018. We expect this to be her last litter. A number of Bonnie's pups have multiple placements in juvenile and adult stakes.

In 2015 Pursuit's Swizzlechik (Penny), by DC AFC The Whiz Kid out of DC BBB's Flashy Rose JH, was named Field Dog of the Year by the Mid-Florida Brittany Club. Penny had a total of 15 placements in juvenile and adult stakes. She closed out her field career with 4 open points and 2 amateur points with 2 1-hour placements. Penny was only able to produce one litter with one puppy before she developed pyometra in March, 2018 and had to be spayed. While we had hoped to eventually have another litter we are thankful for her recovery.

Pursuit's Spotlight (Happy), by NAFC FC AFC Piney Run Sam out of FC Pursuit's Flashy Chick, was named the 2016 Juvenile Field Dog of the Year by the Mid-Florida Brittany Club. She is represents a 5th generation of OFA Excellent hips. Happy has 3 field placements totaling 6 FC points in her limited field trial career. Her most recent placement was 2nd in the Open Gun Dog stake at the 2018 Central Georgia Pointing Dog Club's February field trial. She competed against 27 other starters to earn her ribbon!

Happy took an extended break from training in 2017. While home she was bred by frozen semen to DC Sunnyvale Point Of Interest JH. This breeding has produced a winner in both juvenile stakes and the conformation ring, CH Firestarter's Packin' Heat (Kyanne). Kya is owned by Andi Christensen. We anticipate breeding Happy again in the spring of 2019. Happy will continue training and competing the remainder of 2018 and through 2019. We expect her to begin her amateur career the fall of 2018.

Pursuit's Broadway Glitz (Betsy), by FC Broadway Joe VI out of FC Pursuit's Flashy Chick, has had limited field trial exposure to date. Betsy won the Open Puppy stake at the Mid-Florida Brittany Club's field trial held in January 2018 and has 1 FC point. She is continuing her training and showing outstanding potential with awesome ground speed and range. Betsy will continue to compete through the remainder of 2018 and through 2019 in juvenile stakes.

Pursuit's Mistaken ID (Lola), by AF CH FC AFC Chubasco II out of Phoenix's Li'l Lucy, is now owned by Dr. Kenneth Block, PhD. Her field trial career was very limited after she aged out of puppy stakes. Her career resumed in full in late 2016. Lola now has 5 placements in all-breed field trial stakes. She runs big and is extremely classy on her birds. Lola is scheduled to be bred to NAFC FC AFC Piney Run Sam in the fall of 2018. We will assist in the placement of this litter. She will resume her field career after she has this highly anticipated litter!

Pursuit Brittanys has a new addition to its kennel. We had not kept a bitch puppy out of Pursuit's Li'l Lucy because she had litters that were mostly or all males! We set out to rectify that oversight by contacting Bill and Beverly Haynes – Brendi Brooks Brittanys – owners of Brendi Brook's Shady Lady. Shady Lady is a littermate to Pursuit's Mistaken ID (Lola). We knew that Shady Lady had produced very nice pups from other litters so felt confident we would get a nice pup. April 2018 saw the arrival of Pursuit's Li'l Phoenix (Phoebe), by Brendi Brook's Smokin Joe out of Brendi Brook's Shady Lady. We now have a very good looking white and liver bitch that is a granddaughter to our Lucy! Phoebe will make her way to Maine in late summer 2018 to begin puppy school training and will compete in the 2018/2019 field trial season.

Watch for more news as we move into the 2018/2019 field trial season!
